

Alexander “Al” Ferguson, 87, of Cary, North Carolina, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Hospice House of Wake County, Raleigh, North Carolina. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1925, Al was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh and a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during World War II.
Al excelled in many endeavors, proud of undertaking diverse projects, from rebuilding old cars before he had a driver’s license to remodeling kitchens to growing beautiful gardens and delicious tomatoes ("tomatas"). Al had an illustrious career of almost 30 years with International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation as a chemical engineer, earning a patent and several commendations and awards for his innovative work.
Al leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife of 40 years, Dianne, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sister and extended family. A poet and orator, Al loved to share his poems of faith, hope and love with all around him. He enjoyed singing, gardening, and spending time with his family, recalling stories captured in old photographs and reminiscing about places traveled.
Memorial services for Al will be held at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511, on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 for their loving care and support.
