She is survived by her husband, Stanley E. Bell; daughters, Deidra Bell Blackmore and husband, Brian and Melissa Bell Young and husband, David; grandchildren, Austin, Ian and Carson Blackmore and Andrew and Aleksa Young; siblings, Rebecca Scallan and husband, Rene, Martha Lyles and husband, Frank, Christine Nelson, and Philip Hinkley and wife, Betty; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Hope Community Church, 821 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service.
