Betsy Anne graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1958, attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1962 with a BA in Early Childhood Education. She later earned an MA in Education from UNC-Chapel Hill. Betsy Anne taught in elementary schools in Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Raleigh. She and her husband, Gus Reavis, moved to Norfolk, Va. where they both taught at Old Dominion University. She and her husband divorced, and Betsy Anne moved back to Raleigh where she spent the next 20 years as an incredibly dedicated, loving mother, raising her three sons. She was active both at White Memorial Presbyterian Church and later at Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church, where she was elected a Deacon. She married Wallace Price at age 60, and they enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises, until his death.
Betsy Anne loved serving others in many capacities throughout her life: as a Sunday School teacher; a Stephen Minister; a Step-Up Partner; at the Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen; and at the Rex Day Care Center, where she loved “ rocking babies”.
In addition to many official roles, Betsy Anne served in many unofficial ways. She cared for many friends and family members through difficult illnesses, even to the end of their life. Her passion was spending time with her family. She absolutely loved her grandchildren, doing things together big or small, whether crocheting, baking sugar cakes, traveling, or visiting. She was dearly loved and will be dearly missed. Special thanks also Marie Madrid who provided loving care to her at the end of her life.
