She was born on January 16, 1928, in Raleigh, NC, to the late Ernest and Mamie Nordan. She was a long time member of Westover United Methodist Church in Raleigh, where she was actively involved. She retired from Emergency Management for the state of North Carolina in 1989 after 25 years of service. She loved traveling in her RV, seeing almost all of the United States except for Alaska. She also enjoyed traveling all over the world including Canada, Mexico, and Europe. But what she loved the most was traveling with her late husband to all these places and in her later years spending time with her daughter, grandchild, and great grandchildren.
Darian was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, R A Mabry; son in law, David Timberlake; brothers, St. Claire and E C Nordan; and sisters, Katherine Nordan, Francis Wimbish, Thelma Smith.
She is survived by her daugher, Barbara Jo Timberlake; grandaughter, Lisette Hayes and husband Josh; sister, Jacqueline Davis; great grandchildren, Bella and David Hayes, and her group of friends that she met for lunch at Hardee's on Western Blvd. in Raleigh.
Darian's funeral service will be Friday, May 18, 2018, 11 AM, preceded by a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM at Westover United Methodist Church, 300 Powell Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606. Interment will be at the Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612, following the service.
