Dear Terri and Noah - 

I am saddened to hear of Darren's passing.  Please know that I am keeping you and your entire family in my prayers as you grieve this loss.  I pray that you are surrounded by loved ones and find comfort in good memories. Having supported Noah's journey throughout high school at Gibbons, I know that Darren was a proud dad who wanted the best for his son, always. I pray that God gives you peace in the midst of your grief.  My heart is with you.

He was the best professor and mentor I have ever had. He made me feel like I could take on the world. We bonded over being from Chicago then after taking three summer electives with him we spoke about HR, life, careers, anything. He was so proud of his wife and son, and the way he spoke about them and loved them is so so beautiful. 

He always told me I was hyperactive, which made me laugh. He was so inspiring. I’ve never seen someone so passionate about what they do. He just loved it and he cared so deeply for his students. He told me how he could go make more money, but he “just loves what he does” and influenced me to make sure my career is about passion too. 

I just spoke in his Employee Relations class in February and spoke at the SHRM fashion show last October. I can’t believe he’s not here anymore. 

This post doesn’t do justice to who he is and what he meant to me. He will be so missed, but he definitely left a legacy.

My deepest condolences to Darren's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Darren coached my son Alex in the Fall of 2022 for the Town of Cary. Alex had played baseball since T-Ball, but nearly quit after the Spring 2022 season, because his coach refused to give kids a chance to learn and play at different positions. Then we had coach Darren for the Fall and it reignited his joy for baseball, because Darren gave everyone a chance to play where they wanted and made sure the kids were having fun as well as learning the game. Darren was one of the best coaches Alex has had over the years, and in the couple times Darren and I got to talk running and marathons, he was a joy to be around and such a positive person full of life.

I am so sorry. My prayers to Darren's family. My family meet him when he was My Nephew Christian baseball coach not long ago. He was amazing with the kids. He was My family and My nephews  favorite coach. He will missed. What a Nice Man. Rest Easy Darren .

Oh gosh, I’m heart broken.  I met Darren when he was the MS soccer coach at Cary Academy and I was his assistant coach.  He was a mentor to all of the young boys, including my son.  He was so enthusiastic about his advanced degrees and I remember recommending NCSU, where I had just completed my MEd.

I remember running into both Mr. & Mrs. Masier at lifetime frequently! Their smiling faces and the sweet conversations shared were just a few fond memories. However one lifetime visit last summer, Mr. Masier had just gotten out of the hospital for the first time and I remember looking at him in awe of how God had brought him back to good health after his transplant. My family and I prayed for him for many months and seeing his face as I turned around the corner blew me away. We talked for a good while and this was the day he had planned to teach his first class back at Meredith. He was ecstatic and that day really stuck with me since. He was a loving husband and father to Noah. My brother (Noah’s very good friend) loved spending time with him. I’m sorry for the loss of Mr. Masier and will continue to keep you all in my prayers!

Terri, my heart has been broken for you since I heard the news of Darren’s passing. We are out of town and will not be at the service but please know that you are with me in my thoughts and prayers. Darren was a special man. I always felt we had a connection since Noah and my Mary were both born on the exact same and unique day. Having joined and served with him on the board at GRACE for two years, I had so much respect for him in our interactions. After that, when I would run into him at GRACE or at my Alma mater, Meredith College, he always greeted me with a smile, interest in me and my family and of course proud conversations about Noah and you. You and Noah were both loved immensely by an amazing man who will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew him.

I'm truly happy I had the opportunity to have known him. He was a good friend and will be missed.our prayers go out to his family. He's in God's hands now may you rest in peace my friend. Robert provencal and wife sylvanus

You were the sweet young boy as the ring bearer in our wedding 54 years ago. Oh what you have accomplished. Your kindness and bright mind will be missed.  Rest in peace.

I’m very sorry to hear the passing of Darren.  I remember meeting him for the first time at my wedding and he was very upbeat and proud of Terri (don’t believe Noah was born at that time yet).   My thoughts and prayers are with Terri, Noah and family.

I am so very sorry to hear this. While our paths had not crossed since our time at Grace,  I did enjoy seeing life updates along the way on social media.  But, I didn't know of Darrens health struggles.  I am saddened to hear this news.  I am praying for you both as you walk this road.  My deepest sympathies.
