Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY, but was a transplanted Southerner for the last twenty-eight years. He attended Cornell University for two years before deciding to enlist in the Air Force. After finishing his tour, he returned to Brooklyn. He completed his education at New York University in 1980, earning a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude while working full time.
He married Leslie Dee Baker on December 16, 1979, and they began living in Edison, NJ. They moved to Statesville, NC in 1987 and to their final home in Raleigh, NC in 1988. They had two children: daughter, Laura, and son, Thomas. It was an extraordinarily happy marriage, and the two were extremely simpatico.
His entire working career was as a computer programmer. He worked for many different companies, always moving upward, but maintaining that he never wanted to be a manager. His most recent job was with the Division of Employment Security Commission in Raleigh, NC. He retired in 2012, and he very much enjoyed being a retiree.
Anyone who knew Ed knew that he was extremely smart, well-versed in financial matters, funny, practical, detail-oriented, and on and on. He had so many wonderful qualities. Above all else, he was independent, knew his own mind, and was never afraid to live life the way he wanted.
His passing has left a huge hole in his family’s heart.
A private memorial tribute will be held. Details to be determined.
