Emily Marie Doyle died peacefully after several years of declining health. Emily was born in the Bronx and raised in New York City, the only child of John and Mary Krejci who pre-deceased her. She received her undergraduate degree at Wooster College in Ohio and then went on to complete her Masters in Early Childhood Education. Emily spent her life in the service of others, especially children. For over 30 years, she taught kindergarten and fifth grade in the Babylon New York school district along with her first husband, Bob Murray. Together they raised 4 sons in Commack, New York and enjoyed their summers in their cabin on Kelm Lake in the Adirondacks. They would pack their car the day after school ended, spend their summer surrounded by nature and would return to their Long Island home just before the new school year would start. Emily was known for her colorful flower gardens, her hand knitted baby clothes and blankets as well as her beautiful singing voice.
After the sudden, early death of Bob, Emily was blessed to find love again with Jack Doyle, who had also recently lost his spouse. The Murrays and Doyles had been lifelong friends and the marriage of Emily to Jack was a joyous one. Emily and Jack enjoyed traveling, their winter home in Florida and their Adirondack cabins in the summers. They took great joy in spending time with their children and grandchildren. They had nearly 20 years together before Emily became a widow for the second time in 2013.
Emily is survived by her four sons Tim (Gina), Rob, Chris, and Pete (Susie), eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her “Kelm Lake family”.
Emily’s family would like to thank the staff of SunRise Cary for their compassionate, loving and professional care of Emily through her final days and Transitions LifeCare Hospice who made the final part of her journey a peaceful one.
Donations in Emily’s memory can be made to the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina (https://dementianc.org/ ) or to St Cecilia’s Church in Warrensburg, NY -http://stceciliaschurch.com/donate.html
The family is planning a celebration of Emily’s life in the Adirondack’s next summer.
