Emma Lee Huggett was born in Shelborne, Indiana March 4, 1925, the sixth child to David and Gertrude Skinner. Emma Lee learned early that nine children must share, especially when you are one of seven sisters! Those seven sisters embarked on a family business that would take them through the war and provide working men and women with meals at the Buchanan Grill. There she would meet her husband Howard Lee Huggett. Howard came to Buchanan, Michigan with a friend to date one of the sisters and the rest is history! As longtime residents of Charlotte, North Carolina, she and Howard raised their three children in their loving home.
Mrs. Huggett became a resident of Cary, North Carolina in July 2015 and at her death was a resident of Spring Arbor of Cary. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Jean Skinner Schneider of Buchanan, Michigan, Mrs. Lil Skinner Pridvaka of Buchanan, Michigan and Mrs. Biggie Skinner Jerue of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is also survived by her son, Bradford Lee Huggett of Tiburon, California, daughters, Deborah Huggett Baker (Paul) of Cary, North Carolina, Trudi Huggett Cree (David) of Peachtree City, Georgia. Mrs. Huggett was both a grandmother and a great grandmother. She was grandmother to Emilie Baker Robinson (Marc) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bennett W. Baker (Shea) of Marietta, Georgia, Lauren Huggett Povio (Chris) of Tiburon, California and Tiffany P. Wylie (Justin) of Clovis, California. She was great grandmother to Ella, Grey, Julia, Blair, Molly, Haynes, Katie, Hank, Wells, Alice, and Tate.
Emma Lee Huggett’s treasure was her family. She will be missed until that day when we enter Heaven’s gate and cast our crowns before Him. Emma Lee Huggett leaves a legacy of her family. It is because this extraordinary mother shared her Lord with each one of us. We learned to love and trust the Lord because she equipped us by spending time with us, teaching and reading God’s word and living a life of example. She has equipped the next generation to carry this legacy on into eternity.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Spring Arbor of Cary for the exceptional care given to our mother during her residence there. We love and admire each one of you!
Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Arrangements will be in the care of Brown Wynne of Cary, North Carolina.
Now, we who are left are to “continue to hold to the things that we have learned and of which we are convinced, knowing from whom we have learned them.” II Timothy 3:14
