

Garrett “Gary” Caldwell Hatch Sr. (79), a resident of Cary, NC, passed away on November 7th, 2023. Gary was born to the late Dr. Joseph C. Hatch, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Caldwell) Hatch in Johnstown, PA on November 23, 1943. Gary graduated from the University of Charleston and was a retired accounts executive with Texaco after 35 years of service focusing on gasoline, oil, and racing. He was never one to rest so after retirement he volunteered as a member of the Palm Coast Fire Police, started his own landscaping company and ended his time working at The Umstead Hotel & Spa in Loss Prevention. Gary was known for his adventurous spirit, humor, wisdom, political banter, and his love of family.
Gary is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn “Kathy”; daughter Heather Rogers and husband Chris (Cary, NC); son Garrett Hatch-Graham and husband John (Wilmington, NC); grandchildren Kathryn Rogers (Hatboro, PA.), Joshua Rogers (Cary, NC) and Courtney Rogers (Cary, NC); his brother Dr. Joseph “Skip” Hatch (Indian Rocks Beach, FL); sisters Suzanne “Suzy” Sweeney (Mark of Jacksonville Beach, FL) and Sally Kurtz (Jim of Hummelstown, PA); sister-in-law Claryne Young (Pittsburgh, PA); plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his beloved Bichon Frise, Gracie.
Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend a celebration of life service being held Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 12:30 pm at The First United Methodist Church, Cary, NC. The service will be officiated by Executive Pastor Martha McLean.
