

Gayle Cameron Rawls, born on August 8, 1949, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 17, 2025. Gayle leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community. A long-time resident of Cary, NC, she was the cherished wife of the late Lowell Michael Rawls for 57 years, sharing a deep and enduring love throughout their lives and enjoying many adventures together.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Michael Rawls, his wife, Michelle Yates Rawls; and her two grandsons, Colton and Luke, who brought her immense joy. Gayle is also survived by her beloved in-laws, Merlene Cameron, Keith and Marsha Kushman, Eric and Sandra Rawls; as well as her nieces and nephews, Michael and Taryn Cameron, Patrick and Cheryl Kushman, Ashleigh Crane, Colin and Katie Rawls, Russell and Kaylie Rawls, and their children.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Estelle Cameron; her brother, Danny Cameron; and her devoted husband, Lowell.
Gayle grew up in the beautiful mountains of Western NC, a place she held dear throughout her life. She cherished the time spent there with her family, and the mountains remained a special place for her. A woman of great faith, Gayle was a constant presence at both Cary Presbyterian Church and First Methodist Church in Cary. She worked for many years as the Assistant Director and Director of the child care centers, where she touched the lives of many children and families with her care, guidance, and compassion. Her commitment to nurturing others extended beyond her professional life, and she formed deep connections with her neighbors, who she considered a second family.
Her heart, always full of warmth and generosity, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Gayle dedicated herself to her loved ones with unwavering devotion. Her kindness, strength, and enduring love will live on in their hearts.
A graveside service to celebrate Gayle's life will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC, on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 12:00 PM.
