We were so blessed to spend time with Gloria and Joe and meet them for the first time only a couple of weeks ago.  We were just commenting how sharp she was and what a pleasure it was to spend some time with them to hear some of their life story.  Now she is with her Lord and we know that we will meet again and spend eternity together.  Our love, sympathy and prayers are with Joe, Mark and Wendy and the rest of the family.

You have my deep sympathy.  May our Lord carry you through the difficult days ahead and comfort you with sweet memories and His promise of heaven.

So many people touch our lives as we journey through this world,         but only a few really touch our souls. Gloria Schwarz touched my very soul.

My husband Tim, our son Connor, and I first met Joe and Gloria when we moved in next door to them almost eight years ago. We quickly became friends, but when my own mother passed away only a year later, Gloria began filling the void that she left. Gloria truly became my second mother and, with us being so far from our own families, she and Joe have been like grandparents to Connor from the time he was 5 years old.

They have shared so many stories with me over the years, but I particularly remember this one that Joe told me

When Joe and Gloria first began dating, he was so preoccupied with trying to impress her that he found himself telling her about how his family tree could be traced back to George Washington. As Joe related this story to me, he said that Gloria politely listened and then asked him, Well that's nice, but what about you? What great things are you doing with your own life?   :D

That was Gloria! She was interested in the individuals she came into contact with.        Not who they knew or what their connections may beunless that connection was with Jesus. And how happy I am today to know that my connection with Gloria here in this life will carry over with her into the next life where she most assuredly has an even more direct connection with our Lord right now. I know that Gloria prayed for my little family every night and I have every reason to believe that she will go right on doing so until we meet againI just hope our Heavenly mansions will be next door to each other so we can pick up where we left off as neighbors in this world.

We are at the peak of the spring blooming season here in Cary, NC and there are many colorful azaleas blooming throughout the area. I am especially appreciative of them because the week before she went home, Gloria gave me a beautiful pink azalea plant. Since then, I have learned that in Chinese culture, the azalea is known as the thinking of home bush.  How appropriate. And how blessed to know that Gloria is home and looking forward to our own arrival there one day, too. 

I can almost hear Gloria saying now as she so often did at the end of our visits, God bless you dear. He did. God blessed our lives and our souls with Gloria's friendship, love and prayers.
