He was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Delores Kendrick Brown; three children, Chris Brown (Ginger) of Cary, NC, Andy Brown (Midge) of Johns Creek, GA and Suzanne Fulghum (Bobby) of Raleigh, NC; brother, Raymond Brown of Tucker, GA; six grandchildren Tyler Brown (Maddie), Cameron Beckman (David), Jacob Brown, Bryant Fulghum, Savannah Fulghum, Brodie Fulghum and four great-grandsons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur and Octavia Joice Brown; Siblings: Milton Brown, Ruby George, Warren Brown and James Boyd (“JB”) Brown.
He was a graduate of Southern Technical Institute and North Carolina State University. He owned a service station in Marietta, GA before moving to North Carolina. He had a long career at IBM. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cary, a devout Christian, and he was a fan of gospel music.
Services will be held December 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC, 27612. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm at the Mausoleum Chapel. A brief graveside service will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
