

James T. Squires, 65, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 after fighting a brave fight with cancer. Jim had a long life during which he proudly served in the US Army qualifying as an expert marksman and earning an Army Commendation Medal while stationed in Europe. He worked for IBM for thirty years and was a Delivery Executive responsible for managing outsourcing contracts across the US at the time of his retirement. He always said his greatest accomplishment in life was his family and that few men ever started with so little and were blessed with so much. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Candace M. Squires; son, Christopher and wife, Bethany, and stepgrandchildren, Dylan and Camii, all of Ocean Pines, MD; son, Todd and wife, Quinn, of Orlando, FL; mother, Barbara Rakovec of Roanoke, VA; sister, Nancy Weekly of Roanoke, VA; and brother, Kendal Rakovec in Youngsville, NC.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Cary Church of God, 107 Quade Drive, Cary, NC 27513. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society for continuing research, 300 Health Park, # 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
