

Jessie Jones Rogers, age 103, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday evening May 8. She was the daughter of the late A. M. “Harry” Jones and his wife Rennie. She is remembered by all who knew her, family and friends alike, as a sweet, godly, kind, giving, loving, selfless person.
She was born and grew up in Raleigh, NC. She attended Apex High School and worked as an assistant to Dr. Goodwin for a number of years. She was married to the late Rev. Harry Lee Rogers. Together they served a number of churches in eastern North Carolina. She gave herself completely to her family and to their ministry. She saw that as her calling in life. That was her way of serving the Lord she loved so much.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson Joshua Rogers, her son-in-law Robert Kent, and her brothers Luther, Odell, Titus, and Ray.
She is survived by her brother Marion Jones, her children Harry (Ann) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Linda (Larry) Durham of Graham, NC, Gayle Kent of Raleigh, NC, and Jim (Donna) of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren Lisa Tan, Thomas, Nathan, and David Rogers, Angela Parsons, Cynthia Thompson, Rob and Allen Kent, and Olivia Lee; and 19 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation for Mrs. Rogers on Friday evening, May 11, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC, from 6:30-8:30 pm and a service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 11:00 am at Swift Creek Baptist Church (9300 Penny Road in Raleigh). Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her son Jim on Sparrow Pond Lane off Penny Road.
