Jon Francis Schondelmayer

Jon was born March 28, 1969 in Muskegon, MI to the late Floyd L. and Josephine Genaux Schondelmayer. He was a graduate of White Cloud High School in Michigan and a Desert Storm veteran of the US Marine Corps. Jon served as Captain for the Cary Fire Department assigned to Ladder Company 1 and also served as a fire fighter at Swift Creek Fire Department for over 19 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Schondelmayer.

Jon is survived by his son, Zayne Schondelmayer; daughter, Alexis Schondelmayer; and their mother, Cindy Ann Carleton all of Apex. He is also survived by cousins, Melinda & Tom Bassett, Michelle Geysbeek, Marieta Smith, Michael Genaux, Terry Feldpausch, Lori Secord, and Kelly Moore; lifelong friend, Dana Redman; and longtime "father-figure" Bill Doering, all from Michigan.

The family will receive friends 5-7pm Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A funeral service with full fire department honors will be held 2:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2013 at Colonial Baptist Church, 6051 Tryon Road, Cary, NC 27518.
