Poem: Can’t Stop Smiling
I can’t stop smiling
and I don’t know why.
I just feel good inside,
never mind why.
It amazes and delights me
that I can feel this way
when it was only yesterday
that I was in despair.
Sometimes the joy flows through me
like the deep current of a placid river.
Other times it squirts out in a giggle,
like a frivolous and erratic fountain.
So I’m grateful for the joy
that comes from deep inside,
from the Spirit that’s inside me
that loves to laugh and smile.
Kathleen Joy Payne, 8 January 2003
