

She was born October 26, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to Reynold and Eleanor Wolff.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles “Charlie” Herbst of Cary, NC; son, Christopher “Chris” Herbst and daughter-in-law, Michelle of Apex, NC; son-in-law, Keith Quistorff and his wife Kaija of Cary; and five grandchildren, Ryan Quistorff of Seattle, WA, Jenna Quistorff of Durham, NC, Connor Herbst of Apex, Harrison Herbst of Apex, and Lauren Herbst of Apex. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Herbst Quistorff, who also fought a courageous battle with cancer and died much too young in 2007.
Nancy graduated from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, where she met the love of her life, Charlie. Nancy and Charlie were married on July 5, 1964 in Freeport, NY. After a stint at Fort Riley, Kansas while Charlie was in the Army, they settled in West Hurley, NY, where Chris and Karen were born.
The family moved to Raleigh, NC in 1972 when Charlie was transferred with IBM. Nancy spent many fond years working for the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation, and always had funny stories about the wonderful people she worked with there.
She and Charlie moved to Cary, NC in 1998 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
During her retirement years, she was blessed to have many friends in the neighborhood and through the Cary Newcomers Club. She always looked forward to getting together with her Book Club and Mexican Train Dominoes groups.
A service will be held on Friday, April 8th at 11 AM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC.
