Wonderful Christian friend that was loved by many friends.  My life was enriched by having Nels for a friend.

I graduated from Oil City High School with Nels in 1950.  We have lived near him and Marlene for 15 years now, and my husband and I enjoyed their company frequently.  Nels was not only a gentle Christian man, he was a genius on the computer and had a droll sense of humor.   Many in our class were sorry to hear of his passing, but I know he was received with open arms in heaven.  He will certainly be missed!

Nels was a kind and generous soul.  He always greeted me with a smile and a twinkle in his eye.  This is how I will always remember him.

With memories of fun times spent together, Mom, Dad and I send love and prayers to all of you all at this difficult time.  The picture of Nels in the Derrick newspaper made me want to smile back at him. I wish so many years hadn’t passed since we last saw each other. May God bless you with comfort and peace.

We have known Nels and Marlene since the early sixties back in Warren, Pa.  we have remained friends all these years.  Nels is a good  Christian man and a wonderful friend.   We will truly miss him, his good humor, and his wonderful Christian daily living. 

Nels will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of faith who lived his values and worked to make this world a better place. He was a good friend.

I met Nels on my first day of work at the Penna. Electric Co. in Warren,Pa on March 1962.  (56 years ago). Marlene and Nels have been our very close and wonderful friends all those years.

Some of the most memorable times with Nels occurred when we would accompany him on his road trips. You did not know where you were going, when you would get there and when you may arrive back home, but the end result was that you would have a great time. 

There are no words that can express how much we will miss Nels.

I will always remember Nels smile, his twinkling eyes, and his kind demeanor.  He was a true Christian man and I know that Jesus must have welcomed Nels Home with a joyful embrace.  My prayers are with you, Marlene, your sons, and your family.  May Jesus comfort you as only He can.  Much love.

I first met Nels Hagstrom in 2010 at a homeowners' association meeting attended by only a few people.   Nels gave me a business card with his title as "Fisher of Men".   I thought it was an uniquely charming Christian title that he had give himself.    

A couple of years later,  Nels was instrumental in updating the Rules & Regulations of our HOA Governance document.  I was surprised to learn he was our only homeowner who had saved a copy of the last revision of the document that could be easily updated.

Once when Nels called to inquire about the Christmas program at my church, he realized I was quite sick and coughing badly.  I was completely amazed that within an hour, Nels and Marlene had delivered chicken soup, some casserole, and fruit to my door.   I am not nearly so well organized or thoughtful myself to be *that* hospitable.   

Nels Hagstom was a consistent, positive influence in our community.  He will be missed.  But, I have no doubt the angels in heaven are rejoicing at his homecoming.   =) 


  A dear friend, a trusted adviser, and a prayerful christian man who will be sorely missed by us all. Always ready to offer help, advice, or a ride to the airport. We spent many happy hours together at the shooting range. May his soul rest in peace.

My moral and physical compass at the Flori de Leon has passed. Nels easy laugh, bright smile, willing and trusted assist will be remembered and recalled by my memory often. For me, this man of God, has left us and only pleasurable memories of him remain. May he rest in peace.

Nels will forever be in my heart, his smile and kind ways brightened my day.   I am forever heartbroken over the loss of him.   James and I, and thru tears, remember the day I named the balcony glass beautiful dog after my neighbor, Nels.  Our sincerest condolences to the Hagstrom Family at this difficult time in life.   My prayers will always include your family.   May he rest in peace, he certainly shall be missed at the Flori de Leon.

I was fortunate to have Nels and Marlene as friends/neighbors on Rama Court in Morrisville.  As a single female, Nels was always so kind and helpful to me.  I never hesitated asking him for advice or help.  He had the most gorgeous smile and exuded positive energy even when he wasn’t feeling 100%.  I loved watching he and Marlene interact together. They are true soul mates.  Nels was so generous with his time.  He restored and painted an old Hoosier cabinet for me that I use in my Salon. When he and Marlene finished the cabinet, every detail on it was completed with such perfection and craftsmanship.  I will miss his sense of humor, wisdom, knowledge and energy.  He made this world a better place for us.  

Nels was a true gentleman and man of God that we admired.  We always valued his friendship and words of wisdom.  Family and friends will miss his smile and good nature.

Nels is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, of 56 years, and sons Ted, Terry, Todd, and Tim.  He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Ryn and grandsons Cole and Bryce as well as family members Rod and Tim, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
