Peter (Phero) Kha Nhu Dinh was born on February 12, 1949 to Mr. Dinh Nhu Ich and Mrs. Vu Thi Tuoi in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. Kha graduated from Petrus Ky High School in Saigon, Vietnam. He was accepted to the 25th Class of the Dalat National Military Academy of Vietnam, the equivalent West Point of Vietnam, and graduated in 1972. He rose to the rank of first lieutenant of the 35th Battalion of the Rangers Corp (Biet Dong Quan), an elite Special Force of the former South Vietnamese Army. When Saigon fell to the Communist in 1975, Kha was imprisoned for 6 years in the so-called “Re-education Camp” by the Communist government of Vietnam. He fled Vietnam and came to America, the land of freedom, in 1992 and 3 years later relocated to Cary, NC. On June 7, 1975, he married his wife of 43 years, Bao Duong, in Saigon, Vietnam. He began working for Austin Company and then Kellogg Company in 1995 when Kha and Bao moved to Cary, NC. He worked for the same company for 21 years until his retirement in 2016. Kha loved the city of Cary, its weather and the people of NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Kha is survived by his beloved wife, Bao Duong; son, Khoa Dang Dinh and wife, Quynh Lam; daughter, Quynh Van Dinh and husband, Dat Xuan Ninh and their children Mason Xuan-Viet and Mila Kha-Vy.
Kha was a friend and a wonderful person to everyone he met. He was someone who was always happy, kind, and loving. He would do anything for you. Kha dearly loved his wife, their children and grandchildren. We miss him more than we can bear, but we had our time on earth with him and now he is in a much better place. We will never forget him.
