

Robert “Bob” Lowry passed away peacefully at his home on August 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born November 13, 1929 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Bob grew up with a deep faith and a spirit of service that guided him throughout his life.
A proud alumnus of Wake Forest University, Bob cherished learning and carried that curiosity into every endeavor. He was a devoted member of Cary Presbyterian Church, where he worshiped, served, and formed lifelong friendships. Bob also embodied brotherhood and community as a Mason of Cary Lodge #198.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Lou Lowry, his daughter Debbie Johnson, and his brother-in-law Leo McKenzie. He is survived by his daughters Sandy Pittman and Carolyn Lowry; grandchildren Bryan Pittman and Lauren Pittman; and sister-in-law Rachel McKenzie. His gentle humor, unwavering love, and steadfast devotion to his family will be treasured by everyone whose life he touched.
A Service to Witness to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ in Memory of Bob Lowry will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Cary Presbyterian Church Sanctuary, Cary, NC
The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Bob’s family extends heartfelt thanks to Duke HomeCare & Hospice and the many caregivers who enabled Bob to remain at home, especially Ben, Lucy, and Roseline, whose compassion was a blessing during his final months.
