Vince was born on October 2, 1959, in Mentor, Ohio, to Vincent and Jennie Martino Puszynski. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cherie Saliby-Puszynski, treasured and loving daughters Nicole and Michelle, siblings Paul Puszynski (Karen) of Whispering Pines, NC, John Puszynski of Middlesex, NJ, Helen Puszynski of Monmouth Junction, NJ and nieces Danielle Daugherty (Matt), Jessie Luther (Will), and Melissa Puszynski, as well as great-nephews Preston and Declan Daugherty.
Vince was humble regarding his abilities and although he was a man of few words, he was a man of many actions. Simple pleasures in life gave him great joy. He loved anything related to taking care of his family, including cooking all of their meals, working in his garden and cooking from the foods he grew. He loved walking on the beach with his family and their dog, Cocoa. He had many talents and enjoyed a variety of activities.
He was known for his love of cooking and the amazing meals he prepared, as well as his love of fishing and spending time with Cocoa. He was an excellent snow skier, could make a fabulous meal from scratch, which he did often, could take any piece of furniture his family gave him and turn it into a work of art, was a talented woodworker and took care of the family cars so that an auto mechanic was rarely needed.
Vince also loved spending time surf fishing at 5:30 in the morning, even if he didn’t catch anything. But his happiest moments were when his two daughters were born. From those moments on, they were his greatest joy in life. He was so very proud to watch them grow into loving, kind, caring, smart and talented independent young women. We have fond memories of him making pizza with them at a young age, teaching them how to ride a bike, suddenly saying he had to get ready for bed when he was losing or things were progressing too slow during family game nights and most recently, being our food translator on our family trip to Italy and Switzerland. He was a dedicated friend and devoted husband and father who held his friends close and his family closer. We are all better people for having known him.
We will miss him more than words can say. He was our rock, our furniture refinisher, our wall decorative painter, our bread baker, our personal chef who could make meals better than any restaurant, our auto mechanic, our general fix-it man, and our gardener and groundskeeper. He showed his love in more than just his hugs and kisses. He gave his love to us in his daily homemade meals, his meticulous attention to detail when painting furniture for us and when checking our cars before we would leave for a trip. We are thankful for the life lessons he taught us of giving, caring, kindness, honesty and simplicity. Although we are thankful for the love he gave us all and the wonderful memories we have of our life with him, his sudden loss has left a hole in our hearts that can only be filled by our eternal love for him.
Pablo Picasso said “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
Vince gave deeply of himself, his love, his time and his attention. He was a very much loved and loving man and that love will never die. For all of that, we are forever grateful to him. We will love and keep him in our hearts forever.
A reception for Vincent will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 Southeast Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with the committal service immediately following at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
