William "Bill" McNamara

He was born March 18, 1957 in Yonkers, NY a son of William and Catherine Devine McNamara. He married Arnette Jones of Kinston, NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved yellow lab, Rocket, who has been patiently waiting in heaven for a walk.

Surviving are his wife, Arnette McNamara of Cary; his two sons, William Miles McNamara of Cary and Ryan Hampton McNamara of Cincinnati, OH; his daughter, Kelly Madison McNamara of Cary; his sister, Lori (and Steve) Myer of Danbury, CT; his brother, Brian McNamara of Buchanan, NY; nephew, Christopher Steeves of CT; god daughter, Lindsay Sullivan of New Canaan, CT; his childhood and best friend, Joanne Potanovic Burns of Hilton Head Island, SC; and lifelong buddies, Shaun Sullivan of Norwalk, CT, and Tim Levstick of Chicago, IL.

Bill was a veteran of the submarine services in the U.S. Navy and served as a sonar specialist for six years aboard the U.S.S. Will Rogers.

Bill loved all sports. He played fast-pitch softball and loved shooting hoops with his kids. He was a proud supporter of the Red Sox and the Steelers. He will be remembered as a wonderful friend with a generous heart and great sense of humor. He was employed by Leith Toyota as the General Manager.

A funeral mass will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
