Born on April 22, 1948, to Marjorie and Dude Zimmerman, Dennis lived a life defined by service, integrity, and dedication to both his work and his family. He proudly served four years in the United States Air Force, an experience that allowed him to travel around the world.
Dennis devoted 38 years of service to the Arizona Water Company, where he was respected for his dependability, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing his job with care and consistency. His long tenure reflected a deep sense of loyalty and pride in his work.
He was also a generous and compassionate man who quietly supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for many years, along with several other charitable organizations. His giving nature was consistent and sincere, never seeking recognition.
Dennis had a lifelong love of sports, participating in athletics throughout his school years, and continuing to play into adulthood. He was a devoted sports fan, particularly of the Arizona Diamondbacks and ASU Sun Devils! Among his most meaningful memories was attending Game 7 of the World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Yankees with his best friend, Alan Pixler, a moment he treasured deeply. Dennis spent most of his weekends at a ballpark watching his grandkids play sports, or spending quality time with his family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Douglas (Dude) Zimmerman; his sisters, Linda Hite and Janice Ronquillo; and his brothers, Duane Zimmerman, Bobby Zimmerman, and Jeff Zimmerman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna; his daughters, Christi Saucedo (Isaac) and Stacy Sanchez (Louie); his brother, Jerry Zimmerman; his sister, Kaye Braunbeck; and his four grandchildren, Chloe, Tessa, Taylor, and Bryce who brought him endless joy. Beyond his immediate family, he is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as a multitude of friends.
Dennis lived a life with one regret: not meeting Donna earlier so he could be married to her longer. He will be remembered for his bold sense of humor, unwavering loyalty, kind heart, and genuine personality. He lived with deep gratitude and aware of his blessings. One of his favorite quotes reflected this outlook: “I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” To know Dennis is to love him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis’ honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
