George Francis McKeown

February 5, 1942 – February 23, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Francis (Frank) McKeown, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, whose presence and wisdom touched countless lives.

Frank was a devoted husband to Carol, a proud and loving father to Cathy McKeown and Shawn McKeown, and a cherished brother “Brud” to Donna Waite. He was the much-loved “Unc” to Colleen Nunnaro and Christopher Waite, a title he wore with joy and humour. As Grandpa to Brianne and Jessica Tylliros and Jeffrey Stewart-McKeown, he found deep happiness and pride, always eager to share stories, lessons, and a bit of well-earned advice.

Renowned in his community as a sought-after expert in fixing and restoring cars and outboard motors, Frank possessed a rare gift: the ability to understand how things worked and the patience to make them right again. Whether it was an engine that wouldn’t start or a problem that needed steady hands and a sharp mind, he was the one neighbours turned to—and he never hesitated to help.

A sailor, Frank felt most at peace near the water, guided by the same steady confidence that shaped his life. He was deeply loved throughout the neighbourhood, known for his generosity, warmth, and unmistakable sparkle in his eye. His wisdom was shared freely, often accompanied by a smile, a laugh, or a story worth remembering.

He adored his corgi dogs, Riley and Clancy, who brought him endless companionship and joy. He is reunited now with his beloved dogs who predeceased him, Shamus and Lance.

Frank’s legacy lives on in the family he loved fiercely, the friends he supported generously, and the many lives he quietly made better simply by being himself. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
