It has been a year today D since Jesus saw you to your permanent home . Your children are beautiful and strong  and I know you know that. We miss your smile and laugh!

I’d met Darren some years ago. His father’s sister is my grandmother, one beautiful Dora Jean, my Shana, who graciously accepted me into the family at the tender age of ~6. 

However, it wasn’t until adulthood that I *knew* Darren. 
By the graces above, we were able to visit regularly, at least twice a year, at Shana’s home in Sarasota. 
We spent Thanksgivings and Easters together. Shana, myself, my wife and two young children, and... Darren.  
He’d entertain in his patented easy way. 
A guitar this holiday, an anecdote on the next. 
He was as kind and as “multi” a man as I’d ever met. Passionate, talented across multiple platforms, and genuinely interested and interesting. 
Those qualities don’t appear often, and together even less so.

We live this earthly life for memories. 
He formed quite a few for me, my family, and my Shana. And gratitude lives in my heart eternal for each of them. 

We’ll sing once more, my friend. One day sooner than we all care to think.  And that’s day I look forward to.

Darren was a good friend and buddy. I first met him when he was still in college at Fort Lewis. We worked together at Fairfield  Pagosa selling resort real estate after that for several years. During that time we spent time in the outdoors and played ice hockey together.  I’m so grateful we were able to reconnect in 2015 and spend some quality time together. That summer we took the horses in the high country to Macey Lakes and camped with Tom Rieber who Darren became good friends with thereafter and had a fabulous wilderness experience. 
Darren’s big smile, laugher, positive attitude and gentle spirit has always touched me. I don’t think he had a mean bone in his body.... I just loved the guy! 

 We’re going to miss your presence Big D .....Know that your family and friends just loved and adored you!
May God be with you...and ride in peace my dear friend until we meet again!

Darren was one of the warmest & caring people I knew. Always looking out for others and making sure everyone had what they needed.  Thank you for  taking such  good  care of my Mom while she was down in Florida.
You will surely be missed, cuz.  You were an angel among us.

It's so hard to know what to say. Darren fit right in to our family - we had most of the boys in the neighborhood. He was like an extra brother. Jim, Darren & Alan - Pete, Repeat & Peat Moss. Bow hunting trips; the canoe trip; neighborhood antics - you name it. Darren will be missed by so many people. My heart goes out to his entire family.  Rest in peace. 

Darren was an iconic figure in my life for over thirty five years and a great man and father. 
Many great memories as we united together to raise our four children. 
I will always remember you saying to me " I can still make you laugh"  Rest in peace D - see you someday again.
