May 13, 1956 – November 2, 2021
Liz was born at St. Mary Corwin hospital, in Pueblo to Paul and Betty Mae (Barthelow) Ziemer, on May 13, 1956, and remained a lifelong resident of Colorado. She passed peacefully on November 2, 2021, at the age of 65, surrounded by family, and an amazing amount of love.
Liz attended Roy Wasson High School in Colorado Springs and after graduation she held various positions from cabinet maker for Learjet, to the US Postal Service, and Accounts Receivable at Excel Energy. In 1998, at age 42, Liz decided to further her education to pursue a professional career. She graduated from Regis University’s School for Professional Studies with a BS in Psychology and joined the healthcare industry as a Mental Health Counselor at West Pines in Wheatridge. She continued her educational journey earning a second degree with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Adams State University.
In 1988 Liz met Bert Rambo at a wonderful old blues venue on Broadway in Denver where the singer/songwriter John Hiatt was performing in concert. That was pretty much that; they had a passionate multi-year relationship before being married in 1995 and remained passionate until the moment of her passing.
Liz had great joys in her life. None greater than her son Jason. She found happiness in her friends, her family, her garden, her kitchen, her craft studio, travel of any kind, but especially road trips, and with the game of golf. Liz was an avid learner, if something interested her, she would jump in whole heartedly until she understood it, became proficient at it, could teach it to you, or compete with you doing it. Her smile was infectious, her spirit indomitable and inspirational, her love and acceptance virtually unconditional.
Liz is survived by her husband Bert Rambo, her son Jason Ziemer and his wife Meka, granddaughter Rian Ziemer, sister Mandy Pickelsimer, niece Amanda Lapierre, and great nieces Hannah and Emily Andresen. She was predeceased by her parents Arnold Paul Ziemer and Betty Mae (Barthelow) Ziemer, her granddaughter Dakota Ziemer, and two sisters Allison and Amelia who were given their angel wings in early infancy.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Perry Park Country Club, Larkspur, CO in early December. Specific time and date to be announced soon.
