

Helen Blanch Wells, age 95 of Castle Rock, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023. She was born on December 29, 1927 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Earl Henry Hopkins and Agnes Blanche Cunningham Hopkins. Helen married Henry R. Wells and he preceded her in death in 2008.
Helen graduated from East High School in Denver and later received her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Denver. Helen was passionate about horses and she loved to raise horses, teach horseback riding, and performing at the National Western Stock Show. She was also an avid lover of her beloved cats and dogs. Helen moved to Surrey Ridge in 1966 and she loved her homestead, being the first family to live in the area. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock. She loved to teach and she worked as an elementary school and substitute teacher for many years before her retirement. In her retirement, she loved to travel with her husband and family. Helen and Henry were proud to have visited all 50 states and their capitals. Her greatest pride was her family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Helen is survived by her children Linda Beck, Rick Wells and wife Debbie, and Cindy Payne and husband Ken; grandchildren Nathan Beck and wife Kelley, Cassandra Beck, Erica Wells, Ryan Wells, Renee Payne, and Greg Payne and wife Alexia. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A private family service for Helen will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to an Animal Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
