Dear Sydney,
Yes, we too were very aware of the anniversary of Jeanne's death, and had I kept your address I'd like to think I'd have sent a note saying that our love for her includes thinking so warmly of you all, and hoping that your lives are going well, and in particular, that Leslie is holding her own. I remain grateful that your lovely daughter Audrey called us to tell us that Jeanne had died. It was an act of great compassion and generosity, and her kindness on the phone will never be forgotten. Your mother and I enjoyed a great friendship for the many years we were both physically able to do so, and I too (though not as her family) will always miss her.  Love, Jen and also Tony Kraus

I lit a memorial candle on the anniversary and thought of you and Leslie. On a recent trip to India, I floated a memorial candle in the Ganges at Varanasi. Sending you and your family much love and would welcome hearing from you.

I just heard of Jeanne's passing.  My deepest sympathies to her entire family.  I had the honor of meeting Jeanne while walking my dogs.  I was able to keep in touch with her every weekend walking Julie and Daisy.  She was an amazing woman and I feel blessed to have known her.

Jeanne and I were friends for 40 years. She was my truth teller, someone I could trust completely. I cherished her wisdom, sensitivity, ability to hear what was underneath, and  passion for life and all living things. Jeanne lived with her whole self. During my mother's illness, while working with Mom, she sustained and comforted me. I am grateful that she came into my life, as a dear friend and teacher. I shall miss her.

JEANNE LEVY WAS NOT AN ORDINARY WOMAN, AND ALTHOUGH CLOSE TO 97 YEARS OLD, SHE WILL STILL LEAVE A HUGE HOLE IN HER FAMILY...AND WE HERE IN BALTIMORE FEEL IT OURSELVES, EVEN WITH HER SO FAR AWAY FOR SO MANY YEARS. THAT IS A TESTIMENT TO HER ENERGY, HER COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS, HER FURY AT THE STUPIDITY OF MAN AGAINST MAN, HER WISH FOR A BETTER WORLD THAT WAS SO FERVENT, HER INSISTENCE ON TRUTH IN ALL MATTERS, HER PASSIONATE LOVE FOR HER LARGE FAMILY, AND STILL, AFTER A DECADE, HER LOVE FOR HER DECEASED HUSBAND NORMAN.  SHE WAS A WOMAN WHO INFLUENCED ALL WHOM SHE TOUCHED, AND OUR LIVES WERE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER BY HER. WE SHALL MISS HER. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE HAD HER AS OUR FRIEND FOR 35 YEARS. I just heard about Jeanne's passing, and regretfully I do not have Sydney's address.  My wife, who passed away a year ago, and I were close friends for many years.  Norman was one of my supervisors during my Psychoanalytic education, and this evolved into a very special relationship that lasted right to the end.  Jeanne was a very intricate part of that friendship, and we maintained that for a long long time.  At 83 I am seeing my friends depart all too often, but the memories live on forever.  My deepest condolences to you and to your family.
