Mike Smigay

Michael Francis Smigay passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born on May 15, 1952, in Colorado, the son of Frank Simon and Rita Pauline (Chase) Smigay. Mike married Cynthia Smith and they celebrated 24 years of marriage together before his passing.

Mike had a strong work ethic and spent his years after graduation working as an automotive technician for over 35 years. Even after his retirement a few years ago, he still continued to share his love of cars and fixing things with everyone he knew. As strong as his hands were, he also had a heart of gold and will be remembered for his kindness and compassion to others – always willing to stop and help other whenever he could. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time country western dancing, hiking, and traveling. He cherished the time he spent outdoors, finding peace and tranquility under the stars. Mike also held a special spot in his heart for animals and will also be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Mike is survived by his wife Cindy Smigay; children Shawn Barnes and husband Frank, Melissa Amador and husband Alex, and Patrick Smigay and wife Deanne; grandchildren Charlotte Barnes, Louise Smigay, Rowan Amador, and Evan Amador; siblings Steve Smigay and wife Cathy Ward, Jennie Smigay and husband Todd Makris, and Chris Volberding. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jassen Smigay.
