Dec 27, 1923 - October 02, 2022
Mollie Nadine Holder, age 98, quietly passed away at her home near Larkspur on October 2, 2022. She was born December 27, 1923 near the former town of Shaw, Colorado. Nadine was the daughter of Alvin Wesley Peterson and Mollie Ellen (Scott) Peterson, and was the second of four children. Siblings included two brothers, Alvin Earl Peterson and Varlen "Spook" Peterson, and her sister, Betty Marie Peterson Trim.
Nadine grew up on the family farm near Lindon, Colorado and always remembered the hardships of farm life during the Depression. This shaped her lifelong resolve and clear-eyed pragmatism. She graduated from Lindon school and received an Associates degree from the University of Colorado. She had hoped to teach Physical Education but WWII derailed those plans.
During World War II, Nadine moved to California to work for the war effort. In San Diego, she met the love of her life, Robert Wesley Holder, a locally based Marine. Bob and Nadine married on October 07, 1945 in Pueblo, Colorado. Their son, Robert Douglas, was born in 1952, followed by a daughter, Diane Elaine (Holder) Coward, in 1954.
In 1968, Nadine joined Martin Marietta Corporation in Littleton Colorado as a stenographer. Over the next twenty-two years, she held various positions and eventually retired in 1990 as an administrator. She sometimes remarked that she enjoyed every minute of her career.
After her retirement, Bob and Nadine spent their time playing golf, dancing and enjoying life in Denver and at a second home near Clarksville, Tennessee adjacent to daughter Diane and husband Bill. Robert passed away in 1998. In 2017, Nadine moved from Denver to live with her son and daughter in-law, Marilyn, in Perry Park near Larkspur.
Nadine is survived by her two children, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her sense of style, dry wit, and fabulous collection of high heels will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Private services will be at a later time. Nadine received excellent care from the The Denver Hospice during her last months and wished donations be directed to The Denver Hospice to carry on that mission or a charity of choice.
