

Oscar “Sonny” Lenton Goode, Jr, 74, of Sedalia, Colorado went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his best friend and son-in-law Todd Faker, son Jeff Goode, his parents Oscar “Pete” Goode, Sr. and Edna Jennings Goode, brother Larry Goode, and in laws Bud and Inez Littleton. Survivors include his wife Rebecca A. Goode, daughter Brandy Faker, sons Danny Goode, Michael (Laurie) Goode, and Jonathan (Casey) Goode, grandchildren James Wyatt Faker, Savannah Grace Faker, Shanna Goode, Alex Goode, Andrew Goode, Ben Goode, Margaret Jane Goode and Britton Goode, great-grandchildren Anna and Landon Cook, two sister-in-laws Ira Sue Walton and Gay Nell Parsons, a sister Debbie Smith, two special aunts Ruby Smith and Joyce Spann, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sonny was born on September 1, 1943 in Glencoe Alabama. He was raised in the Glencoe area and went to Glencoe High School. Sonny played football during high school and participated in rodeo riding. In his 20’s he worked for the Birmingham News as a layout artist. He met and married Rebecca “Becky” Littleton Goode on December 27, 1971. Sonny and Becky traveled the United States working at a variety of newspaper organizations including in Florida, Washington DC, and California. After traveling they settled down near Atlanta, Georgia where Sonny began his truck driving career. He was a long haul truck driver for over 30 years. In his middle age he moved to Lexington, Georgia where he owned Goode Transportation. In his later years he moved out west to Littleton and then Sedalia, Colorado to be near his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Sonny was a proud member of Faith Lutheran Church in Castle Rock, Co. He loved trivia and even knew how many noodles are in every can of chicken noodle soup. Sonny had a love of horses and passed that love onto his daughter Brandy. He loved playing with his grandchildren Wyatt and Grace and watching the University of Georgia football games.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 27 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 303 Ridge Road, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104 with a luncheon to follow at the church. Following the luncheon he will be carried to his final resting place in an 1800’s horse drawn carriage at Bear Canon Cemetery in Sedalia, Colorado. Pallbearers include Tommy Walton, Eric Harry, John Snodgrass, Brad Niles, Carl Kopp, and Kevin Williams.
