

Preston Clovis Speers, aged 69, of Parker, Colorado, passed away on July 3, 2024, after battling acute myeloid leukemia. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, to Wallace and Joan Speers, Preston leaves behind a profound legacy of love and achievement.
Growing up, Preston enjoyed a vibrant childhood in Montclair, where he played outdoor games with his neighborhood friends and cherished family vacations at Squam Lake, New Hampshire. He attended Montclair High School before graduating from Allegany High School in Cumberland, Maryland. Preston's academic journey led him to Bowling Green State University on a full scholarship, where he excelled in lacrosse and earned recognition as a first team All American. He pursued studies in Chemistry, Biology, and Business during his university years.
Preston embarked on a distinguished professional career in 1979, which spanned nearly four decades until his retirement in 2017. His remarkable leadership qualities shone during his tenure as CEO of North American Interconnect for 15 years, where he was celebrated for his dedication to employee growth and corporate success.
Beyond his professional achievements, Preston found true joy in the company of his beloved wife, Merrill, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. They reveled in Florida's waters, indulging in golf, fishing, and boating. Family was paramount to Preston, evident in his cherished holiday gatherings with children and grandchildren, passing on his passion for fishing to future generations. Together with Merrill, Preston explored the world, recently achieving a lifelong dream by visiting all seven continents, including a memorable journey to Antarctica.
Committed to community service, Preston made a significant impact through his involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous and the American Red Cross, embodying his compassion and dedication to helping others.
Preston is survived by his devoted wife, Merrillanne Speers; loving children Kimberly Speers Green and Michael Speers; stepchildren Connor Schlaff and Taylor Wortman; adored grandchildren Kailani Speers, Everly, Carter, and Nixon Green, and Ellie Schlaff; supportive sister Wendy Schuck and brother-in-law Bob Schuck; and his beloved dogs, Joey and Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Joan, and his sister Judith (Judy) Lanigan.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life service honoring Preston, which will be held on July 21st, 2024, at the Colorado Golf Club, located at 8000 Preservation Trail, Parker, Colorado 80134. The Open House will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
