Sharon was born May 25, 1954, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Oscar Emil Reuth and Gloria M. Barnes.
Sharon lived on the Reuth Family Farm in Kiowa, Colorado before moving to Palmer Lake in 1960. It was in Palmer Lake, where she would thrive for 65 years as part of that community.
As a member of the Palmer Lake community, Sharon was a teacher. After earning her degree from Colorado College, Sharon taught school in School Districts 11 & 49. She loved teaching. Whether it was full time or as a substitute later in her career, she truly enjoyed her students. Sharon kept a journal of cute things her students had said throughout the years. You can see the positive impact she had on her students and the community through the comments made on Facebook from teachers, students and parents alike.
Sharon’s love for the community and outdoors was second to none. One of many organizations she volunteered for was the Palmer Lake Historical Society. Sharon walked around town, took hikes, skied and snow shoed. Then she wrote stories and took pictures of her adventures in the beautiful surroundings. Several of Sharon’s stories “Walking Around Palmer Lake”, were in a local publication. As a member of the El Paso County Interpretive Staff, Sharon wrote a series of twelve articles titled “A Hike Through Time”. This collection of articles featured the social history of the Palmer Lake Region, which includes the Northern El Paso County Parks, Palmer Lake Trailhead and Santa Fe Regional Trail. Some of her other hobbies included photography and making greeting cards.
These were only a few of her contributions to her community. Sharon also spent some holidays in Northern Colorado with her cousins. She would help the little kids with their Easter Egg hunts and talk with the big kids about the farm. Sharon’s outgoing personality and stories of her life, adventures, friends from Palmer Lake, and her cranberry sauce always made her visits occasions to look forward to.
Sharon is survived by her cousins Carl Reuth, Edgar Reuth and Max Reuth; Juanita Chase, Martha Chase and Jimmy Chase; and many second and third cousins.
A memorial service for Sharon Lynette Reuth will be held at the Palmer Lake Town Hall, 42 Valley Crescent Street, May 3rd at 10:00 AM.
