Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Thomas Jameson Johnson passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025 in Castle Pines, Colorado with family beside him. He was 92 years old. Tom was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on December 14, 1932 to parents Arthur D. Johnson and Florence Jameson Johnson. He was the second of three boys, with an older brother, Philip, and an identical twin brother, Richard. He spent his early years in Nelson, Minnesota before moving to Owatonna, Minnesota where he graduated from Owatonna High School. After high school, he attended Macalester College in St. Paul for two years, then transferred to the University of Minnesota, to complete an engineering degree through a work scholarship program with Honeywell. He met Cynthia Gray, his future wife, at the University.
Shortly after graduating, Tom signed up for an overseas missionary program. While training in the American South for the mission, he had the honor of meeting Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King. Overseas, he worked at a church in Malacca, Malaysia following the drowning death of his twin brother, serving out both his brother’s mission term as well as his own. He was in Malaysia during the revolution for independence from England, witnessing celebrations in the streets of Kuala Lumpur.
Upon his return, Tom resumed work as an engineer, and he and Cynthia were married on June 25, 1960, living in Roseville, Minnesota, where their three daughters were born. Following a brief move to Goffstown, New Hampshire, Tom and Cynthia settled their family into the Castle Rock, Colorado area in the fall of 1969, where they lived the remainder of their years.
Tom was a production engineer for Honeywell until his retirement, after which he and Cynthia began working at the Denver Center for Performing Arts as ushers for nearly 20 years.
Tom was active in the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock, serving on the finance committee and singing in the choir. In addition, he volunteered at Rocky Mountain Food Banks, Denver Urban Ministries, and Habitat for Humanity. Tom also became a registered Girl Scout to participate in projects, trips, and events with his wife and daughters. Throughout his life, he traveled to 54 countries on five continents.
