Christopher Lee Burdette, age 48, passed away on February 26, 2018. He is the much beloved son of Margaret and Thurl Lee Burdette. Chris is the protective and loving brother of Suzanne Burdette and Amalie “Amy” Burdette, and the devoted and fun-loving uncle of Cassidy Burdette. He is the grandson of the late Ethel and Phillip Breichner and the late Violet and Joseph Plein; treasured nephew to William and Georgiann Breichner, James Breichner and the late Jean Breichner, Irene Breichner and the late Joseph Breichner, Glenda Breichner and the late Philip Breichner, and the late Mary and Jim Speaks; also dear nephew to Stanley Kowalsky and the late Lorena Kowalsky, the late Donald and Iris Burdette, the late Patsy and Charles Austin, the late Monty and Esther Burdette, the late Retha and Joe Stallings, the late Janet and Fred Sullivan, and the late Robert Burdette. Chris is also survived by many other loving family members, incredibly devoted friends near and far, and “Stowie”, the cute gray cat who adopted Chris on a cross-country road trip.
Growing up in Catonsville, Chris attended St. Mark Catholic School and enjoyed playing in the neighborhood with numerous friends. He attended Mount Saint Joseph high school and discovered a real talent for running after joining the track and cross country teams. Chris was a standout runner at UMBC and then later at Towson University. After college, he developed a passion for cooking and worked at several restaurants in Baltimore, Richmond, VA and New Haven, CT. Anyone who knows Chris, knows he loved his Baltimore Orioles. His best days were spent hanging out with family and friends, cooking up good food for all to enjoy, spinning vinyl and playing guitar, rooting for the O’s, and sharing never-ending smiles, laughter, and good times.
The world needs more people like Chris Burdette. He was always full of life and left a big mark on the people near and dear to him. According to a friend, “Though much of him was taken violently some years ago, he fought on and inspired all those who experienced his kind heart, infectious smile, and sunny attitude. Inside all that nice stuff was a man of steel, a fantastic athlete, and the heart of a lion. He was kind, modest, and generous, and just a little bit crazy to keep it fun. Gone far too soon, he will live on in the hearts and stories of all those lucky enough to have known him.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering at the Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Ave., Catonsville, MD 21228 on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
