Katherine Williams Riggins, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away at the age of 83, on Friday, February 20, 2026. She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia and was valedictorian of both her high school and Lynchburg College classes. She went on to become a middle school English teacher and later in life a librarian in Howard County, Maryland. She loved reading, poetry, nature, all animals, especially watching, listening to and feeding birds. She enjoyed spending quality time with Homer, her husband of 61 years, traveling (including many trips to the beach), watching Baltimore Orioles and Ravens games, and taking long walks together. She cherished all time spent with her family and is survived by her husband Homer; children, Francis (and his wife Lisa), Elizabeth (and Ken Miller), Bruce (and his wife Mara); and grandchildren Benjamin, Hope, Summer, River, Haley and Ryan. She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Katherine Williams.
A burial service will be held at Rappahannock Christian Church in Dunnsville, Virginia, and a celebration of life will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Catonsville in the spring.
