

Mary K. Noble, 89, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012, in Hillsdale, MI. Mary was a resident of Baltimore for over 86 years. Mary was born September 11, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland to Dr. Hugh and Emma (Smith) Clement. She earned a BS degree in Physics and Math from Goucher College in 1945. On April 7, 1946, Mary married Paul F. Noble of Vienna, MD. They were happily married for over 60 years.
Mary was a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother of four. She was active in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and PTCA. She and her husband were active members of the Arbutus United Methodist Church for decades. There, Mary acted as President and member of the Women's Society, and member of the Good Timers Club. She and her husband Paul were members of the Catonsville YMCA, where they swam nearly daily. Mary was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and reading. More recently, she was a member of the Red Hats Society, and the Hillsdale College President's Club.
When the children were grown, Mary worked in the accounting department at the University of MD, Baltimore Campus. She loved vacationing in Ocean City, MD, Bethany Beach, DE, and the Outer Banks, NC. She traveled to visit family on both coasts, and enjoyed going on cruises with friends and family. She was a devoted and much loved Grandmother of four.
Survivors include daughter Janet Noble of Oakland, California; daughter Kay and husband Steve Verney of Wellfleet, Massachusetts; son Paul and wife Michelle Noble of Hillsdale, Michigan, sister Anne Gehring of Towson, Maryland, and sister-in-law Esther Clement. Mary is also survived by four grandchildren, Krista Noble and Alexi Noble, both of Hillsdale Michigan, Michael Verney of Dover, New Hampshire and Jon Verney of Florence, Italy.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul F. Noble, her parents, daughter Joanne Noble, brother Dr. Hugh Clement and wife Enrica, brother, Dr. Tom Clement, sister Ruth Olenchuk and husband Peter Olenchuk, and brother-in-law Josef Gehring.
Mary was beautiful, inside and out. She had a warm smile for all, a sweet and gracious manner, and a loving and generous heart. She was quick to laugh, and a lot of fun to be around. She will be deeply missed.
Viewing will be held at the Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228 on Friday, February 24, from 3-5 and 7-9. Funeral services for Mary Noble will be at the Arbutus United Methodist Church, 1201 Maple Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21227, 11am, Saturday, February 25 with Pastor Ira Barr officiating. Interment will take place on Monday, February 27, 11am at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland.
