Known as Aaron by many in his early years he chose to go by his middle name Nick in honor of his paternal grandfathers passing when entering high school.
Nick was born February 5, 1962, in St. Joseph MO, to parents David & Betty (Bettebelle) Henkowski. His family moved from Missouri to Sioux City IA in 1967 and then onto Denver CO in 1977 where he remained. Nick was always athletic and mischievous. He had many interests and friends, living his life to the fullest. He excelled at Football/Baseball/Basketball in his years at Cherry Creek HS. He attended UNC where he played football (quarterback) as well and just might still hold a couple records. After college he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins and subsequently traded to the Atlanta Falcons. Neither panned out but it was fun while it lasted.
Nick married Nichole Enoch in 1988 and enjoyed many years together until her passing. He never had children of his own but spent time with his nephews/niece as if they were his own and they so loved him. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, golfing, motorcycling, hiking, and water skiing.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Betty and niece Isabella Thallas. He is survived by his older brothers Derek (Lora) Henkowski and Eric Henkowski, younger sisters Angie (Rodger) O’Neal and Amy (Dave) Ollo. Nephews/Nieces-Josh (Tiff) Thallas, Wade (Sam) Henkowski, Colton (Audrey) Henkowski, Helana Ollo, Collin (Logan), Colby and Connor O’Neal. Great Nephews/Neice-Hunter & Jaxon Hegstrom, Lucia Thallas, David & Maddison Henkowski, Caden, Cal and Jack O’Neal.
