Alan Eliud Tanguma passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 89. Born on October 11, 1936, in Beeville, Texas, Alan lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, laughter, and love for his family.
Alan was a devoted husband to his late wife, Virginia Tanguma, with whom he built a life rooted in commitment, faith, and family. He was one of ten siblings and was lovingly known as “Lulu” among them — a nickname that captured his playful spirit and lifelong role as the family trickster. Whether through harmless mischief or quick humor, Alan had a way of keeping laughter alive within the family. He was a proud father to Naomi, Danny, who preceded him in death, and Beverly, and a loving grandfather to Thomas (spouse Carly), Dain, Evan (spouse Kyara), Ceara (spouse Alex), and Noah — each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
In his professional life, Alan was an award-winning HVAC business owner, known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication to excellence. He took pride in his work and earned the respect of those who knew him through his integrity and craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Alan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a devoted Denver Broncos fan, rarely missing a game, and loved spending time walking his beloved dog, Foxer. Known for his quick wit and playful sense of humor, Alan had a gift for making people laugh and lightening the mood. He had a remarkable ability to find the good in any situation and encouraged others to do the same.
Alan had a rare gift for connection — he truly was everyone’s friend. Growing up, none of our friends ever called him “Mr. Tanguma”; to everyone, he was simply “Gramps.” That warmth extended far beyond family. Friends of his children quickly became his friends too, and he had a way of making people feel instantly welcome and seen. At his favorite restaurant, El Camino, he was known and loved by staff and regulars alike, always greeted with smiles and familiarity. Even recently, a neighbor fondly shared that “he was the cutest little grandpa she ever met.” Alan had a way of leaving an impression — gentle, genuine, and full of heart — wherever he went.
One of the guiding principles of Alan’s life was the Serenity Prayer. He lived by its message—accepting the things he could not change, having the courage to change the things he could, and seeking the wisdom to know the difference. This philosophy shaped how he faced life’s challenges and remains a lasting lesson for those who loved him.
A viewing will be held at 9:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM, and a reception at 11:00 AM at Cross Culture Church at 3995 N Lewiston St. Aurora, Colorado. Burial will take place at 1:00 PM at Olinger Chapel Hill 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. All services are open to the public, and all are welcome to come honor and celebrate Alan’s life.
Alan will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew him.
