
She was raised on a farm/ranch near Yoder, WY and graduated from the University of Wyoming in Elementary Education. She taught for five years in Casper, WY before marrying Donald Haas on August 2, 1969. She taught two years in Shirley Basin, WY. They lived in Shirley Basin and Riverton, WY; Omaha, NE; Billings, MT; Denver, CO; Boise, ID; and Knoxville, TN.
Alberta was a loving wife and supportive partner to her husband and a wonderful, nurturing, firm, and supportive mother to their four children. She was an accomplished geneologist for over 30 years, including teaching geneology classes to help others find their roots and their lost relatives. She was a Weight Watchers Leader for 10 years in Boise, ID. She volunteered in her children's classrooms for over 20 years. She was active in the youth soccer program in Boise, ID. She was active in the United Presbyterian Church in Riverton, WY; St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Billings, MT; Amity United Methodist Church in Boise, ID; and St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO. She was past president and active in Chapter HH of PEO.
Alberta is survived by her husband of 43 years, Donald; children, William of Highlands Ranch, CO; Jonathan (Penny) of Highlands Ranch, CO; Daniel of Denver, CO; and Heather of San Francisco; grandchildren, Zachary Duncan of Highlands Ranch, CO; Hunter Li of Highlands Ranch, CO; sister, Ellen (Richard) Preston of Yoder, WY; sisters-in-law, Vernita (David) Green of Oshkosh, WI; Kay Haas of Reno, NV; nieces, Victoria Preston of Greenwood Village, CO; Sarah Wright of Appleton, WI; Rachel Soto of Austin, TX; Sheila Vorpahl of Fort Atkinson, WI; nephews, Eric Preston of Aurora, CO; Theodore (Kristi) Preston of Laramie, WY, and Brian Green of Oshkosh, WI; great-nieces, Aubrey Atkinson and Sofia Preston of Aurora, CO; Emma and Olivia Soto of Austin, TX; Cana and Selah Vorpahl of Fort Atkinson, WI; great-nephews Thomas Preston of Aurora, CO; Jesse and David Marnocha of Appleton, WI; Joseph Soto of Austin, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence Likins, two infant sisters and an infant brother.
Services will be held 10:00 am on September 18, 2012 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 8817 S. Broadway, Littleton, CO with graveside services following at Olinger Chapel Hill, 6601 S. Colorado Boulevard, Littleton, CO.
Viewing will be held from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at St. Luke's prior to the service.
