Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Fred developed an early love of music and an enduring curiosity about the world. He attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where a formative study abroad experience in Vienna, Austria, shaped the course of his life. Immersed in history, language, music, and culture, Fred shifted his academic focus from pre medicine to German history—a decision that reflected both his intellectual curiosity and his thoughtful independence of mind.
Fred and his wife of 58 years, Ann, had a full life that included multiple moves, international travel, hospitality, philanthropy, and photography.
Fred spent most of his professional career as an executive in the life and health insurance industries, including as CEO of Wausau Benefits, which was subsequently acquired by Fiserv Health. He was widely respected for his principled leadership, mentoring young executives, cutting edge adoption of technology, and prioritizing humans when making decisions.
Fred was a gourmet chef who took great pleasure in preparing meals for others. He made a consistent effort to connect with each one of his family members and truly understand their minds and interests. Fred also generously gave his time, talents and resources to numerous performance art and Anglican organizations, reflecting his lifelong commitment to theatre, music, faith, and service to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann, his daughter, Erika Hollis (Mathew) his sons, Robert Moore (Andrea) and Michael Moore (Christina) as well as his six cherished grandchildren, and his sister and brother in law, Karen and Dale Dunlap.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Fred’s honor to American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra in St. Paul, Minnesota, Vocal Essence in Minneapolis, Minnesota or an arts organization in your community.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, US, on June 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Reception will follow after the service.
