Alida Yvette Davis was born to Gloria Jean Davis at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana on February 27, 1971. Her mother relocated to Port Arthur, Texas when she was a toddler. While there she attended preschool and grade school in which she was actively involved in The Campfire Girls and other school activities. She had a bubbly personality and made lifelong friends along the way. Her mother moved back home to Alexandria where Alida continued her education. While at Jones Street Junior High School, she became a Girl Scout, was a member of the Flag Corps, on the Honor Roll and was known for her gift of gab. At Peabody High School, she continued as a member of the Flag Corps and attained First Chair. She was an astute student and remained on the Honor Roll. She was selected for an internship in finance at one of the local banks which was instrumental in guiding her career path. She was a graduate of the class of 1989 and remained in constant contact with many of her peers. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and made the Dean's List each semester.
Alida accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, along with her brother Julian, at Second Nazarene Baptist Church by Rev. John Valley Sr. in Alexandria. While at the church, she was a member of the choir, the youth secretary and announcement clerk.
Alida relocated to Aurora, Colorado as a young adult. She was employed at Anthem, Encompass, and private physicians in medical billing. She married James Phillips Sr. July 22, 2020.
Alida became a member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Randolph C.
West Jr. Alida had a gentle spirit and was always willing to help wherever she saw a need. She never met a stranger, she would always extend a warm smile and an open heart.
Alida retained her faith in the Lord throughout her illness and never failed to give Him praise and glory.
Alida departed this life July 15, 2024 at St. Anthony Cancer Center in Lakewood, CO.
She leaves to mourn her husband, James Phillips Sr., two daughters, Natalya Darnesha Gardner and Janae Monique Jackson, stepchildren, James Phillips III, Nadia and Jamyus Phillips, mother, Gloria Jean Davis-Harris, father, James Humphrey, brothers Julian Ramon Davis(Monique) of Aurora, CO and Patrick Earl "PJ" Harris Jr. (Britney) of Phoenix, AZ, half-siblings, Shondelle (Stephanie) of Pollock, LA, Kendrick (Angela) of Dallas, TX, Terrence(Wynn) of Tampa Bay, FL and James Humphrey Jr of Alexandria, LA. A very SPECIAL aunt (her second mother) Alice Marie Davis-Johnson of Aurora, CO. Special recognition goes to Patrick Harris Sr., her step-in daddy. She also leaves uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and numerous friends. To know Alida was to love Alida.
