Bernardine Gantt

Born April 10, 1926 in Sterling, CO to Bernard and Anna Fehringer. She attended school in Peetz, CO, graduating in 1944. She received her three-year diploma degree from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1947. After graduating, she moved to Kremmling, CO and opened the Kremmling Memorial Hospital with Dr. Cerani and Alice Cantril, R.N. On November 8, 1950, she married Frederick Ross Gantt. In August of 1955 Ross and she moved to Keenesburg, Co where Bernie lived for 50 years. She and Ross raised their five children there. Lynn Worley of Rifle, CO; Bernie Gantt of Meeker, CO; Bill Gantt of Denver; Vern Gantt of Henderson, CO; and Pat Girolamo of Littleton, CO. Bernie worked as an R.N. in general nursing and as a school nurse before she retired. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ross; two brothers, Henry and Bert Fehringer; and two sisters, Chris and Helen. She is survived by her five children, brother, Frank Fehringer of Peetz, CO, and four sisters,Irene Korbe of Sacramento, CA, Theresa Koester of Akron, CO, Darlene Tyson of Broomfield, CO, and Amelia Benisch of Davenport, Iowa, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gantt’s funeral will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 6673 W. Chatfield Ave. in Littleton, CO. She will be buried with her husband, Ross, at 2:15 p.m., October 15, 2010 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.a
