

Betty was born on November 24th, 1933 in Mena, Arkansas, Polk County, to her beloved mother, Sarepta Gertrude (Montgomery) Pitts (1897-1985) and her beloved father, “Daddy” Grady Breckenridge Pitts (1891-1953). She loved her brother and his family, William L. “Bill” Pitts (1929-2015) and his wife, Yvonne “Butch” Pitts and Betty’s surviving nieces, Suzanne, Betty Lynn and Diana Pitts and their families.
Betty Jean Schoenfeld, 83, passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of September 29th, 2017 at her son’s home in Centennial, Colorado from Alzheimer’s and other complications. Betty leaves behind two surviving sons, Andy Schoenfeld of Grand Junction, Colorado and his wife Kathy, Betty’s granddaughter, Allison and grandson, Stephen Schoenfeld and their families, and son Greg Schoenfeld of Centennial, Colorado and her loving dog, Ayla. Betty also lost a son, Stephen Phillip Schoenfeld, in 1963 from heart problems that she greatly and dearly loved. Betty also leaves behind her caregiver, Tracey Hill, who she loved and greatly helped Betty with her daily personal needs.
Her viewing will be held Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, located at 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. Funeral Service will also be at Olinger Chapel Hill on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at 1 pm, service will be officiated by Pastor Larry Shackley and Pastor Gordon Albury.
Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends. She worked as an executive secretary at Electronic Processors Inc., Tangent Engineering and PC LAN’d, as well as working for Colonel Cody of the Far East Command, Tokyo, Japan in the 1950’s during the Korean Conflict. Special thanks to Lutheran Hospice for their help since July, Betty’s nurse, June and Wendi, her CNA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Betty’s name to either St. Jude’s Hospital for children and their families, the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, or TLC Meals on Wheels in Centennial.
