Caren Jean Spearman passed away on June 14, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 27, 1947, in Denver, CO to Clarence and Geraldine Cook. She graduated from Hinkley High School in Denver, Colorado. Caren attended Colorado State University for three years where she met her husband Mike. She then attended Eastern New Mexico University for one year until graduation. They were married on June 21, 1969. Mike and Caren lived in Texico, NM for 12 years where they started their family then moved to Colorado. They raised their family while living at the ranch in La Garita from 1982 until present. She was a member of the Center United Methodist Church and enjoyed her many friends, gardening and time spent on her porch. She is survived by her husband Mike of 41 years, her two sons Ryan (Carol) and Chad (Joey) and 3 beautiful grandchildren Emberly, Lane and Riley, a brother Phil Cook (Carole), sister Sharon Wood (Bob), several nieces, and aunts. Caren spent her life at home, taking care of her family and anyone else who needed her help. One of Caren’s gifts from God was her ability to care for and nurture others in times of need. This was her way of doing God’s work and she did it very well her entire adult life. She was blessed with two wonderful daughter-in-laws and dearly loved assisting them with her grand children. She was devoted to her family and friends and will be remembered for her love and loyalty.
