Born 1/19/1932 – 3/4/2018.
A sparkling firecracker has ascended to Heaven. Dodie Gale passed away the morning of March 4 to join her dear brother, Bill McIntire, and her Heavenly Father. She was a pioneer in Colorado’s history – a woman working in a man’s world of politics and state government. She pressed for strong local government and worked with legislators in the days of spittoons on the floor of the House of Representatives.
She retired as the Executive Director of the Special District Association in 1996. She was a highly respected lobbyist and a tough competitor. She was a proud Denver native, attended East High School, and dearly loved our state. Involved in politics since the 1950’s, she was an informed voter until Alzheimer’s stole her away from us. She was a master golfer and bridge player and enjoyed card games to the end.
She was preceded in death by her dear friend Phil Peters. Survived by children: Jack Gale (Debbie), Gwen Dee Borchert (Neil), Dan Gale (Alice), and Diana Dudley (Mike). She enjoyed many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by nieces Cynthea Carlton (Carroll) and Vanessa Cubilla (Paul). Donations in her memory can be sent to The Action Center where she was a devoted volunteer.
A Celebration of Dodie's Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A private family placement will be held in Mount Lindo Cemetery, Morrison, CO.
