Donna, I miss you you always! She was my first love of my life! My name is Alan long and back in 2012 I felt like something was not right with my world, I always thought Donna and I were soul mates and some day we would get together again someday. I looked her up on the internet and saw her obituary and was completely devastated about her passing. I want her family to know that I am am so sorry about your loss! I have not been able to Wright this until now because I thought you all would not understand my feelings or how you would receive this. I wish someday we could meet and talk about Donna and how she affected my life! I miss her and always will! I am so glad she got married and had a beautiful family. Miss you Donna!

It seemed like Aunt Donna was always at family occasions. Whether it be a holiday, barbecue, football game, or Friday dinner, Donna was always there. I looked forward to seeing her every time we did something as a family. Her humor, happiness and love always brightened my day. I'll never forget my loving Aunt Donna. Love, Ryan.

Donna my littlest sister but my biggest source of guidance and advice.  She rarely minced words always telling it like it was.  She was always the first to greet you, always wanting to share in your life happenings.  Donna was the best at unconditional love and acceptance.  Donna's pride in her family always shone through, whether it was the latest football game, the first pumpkin pie, or the complete overhaul of an engine.  She always had a smile and the rare time she did'nt you knew you were in BIG trouble.  She was the organizer for the extended family which was always appreciated and I am sure we did not thank her enough.  I remember her gift of gab and of course her ability to tell a good joke.  I think this got her out of alot of chores growing up.  She was our family's little ray of sunshine which was her real place in the family.  I truly miss you every day and truly wish you were still here.  I will take the love you gave and let it help me to grow. love Ruth

Donna you are a woman no one could ever replace… at least not in our hearts.
You and I were perfect for each other.  Our values and senses of humor meshed together perfectly.

With our union, you gave life to two beautiful children that we watched grow up into young men and that we are both very proud of.
They both love you tremendously because you never feared showing your emotions towards them, towards me or to just about anyone you loved. 
You wanted our kids to grow up wise, respectful and happy.

Donna, What words should I use to honor you? Loving, caring, funny, thoughtful, understanding, outgoing, chatty, inteligent, beautifull, believing, considerate, giving. These and many more would not express my thoughts of you so I will just say "you were everything to me." I can never forget you.    I am blessed with a lifetime of memories of my sister Donna.  There is so much I loved and admired about her.  Her smile, her playfulness, her intelligence, her intuition and certainly her family.  I can go on and on about her but it would never seam enough to completely paint the picture of how great a person she was and how much she meant to me.
   Although she is gone, she is still very much alive inside me; in my thoughts, in my actions and always in my prayers.  I miss her and think of her everyday.  My memories of her compassionate and loving spirit will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life and I feel privileged and proud to call my sister.

Every time I went to dinner on Fridays, I asked my dad who was all going. His answer always included Donna. She made the dinners more interesting with her stories and jokes. She made everybody feel welcome, and I look up to her more than anyone. I will always remember her, and how much she has taught me. I love you Aunt Donna!

From the first moment I met Donna she treated me like an old friend.  She was kind and loving to everyone in her life.  She had a great sense of humor, was a joy to spend time with, and was a beautiful person both inside and out.  When I think about her, I think about how lucky Jim was to have her for a wife, and how lucky Andrew and Danny were to have her for a mother.  I know she will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Donna was one of my favorite aunts because she taught me games and we always would have fun together. I loved her smile and her love for all the people she met.  I know she is up in heaven.  That is where she needs to be. I will miss her very much but I know she wants us to move on, think about the now and the future but to still keep the memories and the love for her.  She always would make family meetings fun and our family reunions memorable. She taught me board games and card games and taught me lots of life lessons. She loved to talk with people, she started the best conversations from nowhere. She loved her boys and her husband, she knew it was just time to go to another world where we could learn that we can go on.

Some of my favorite memories of my Aunt Donna…

Growing up she was always known as our “cool” Aunt Donna. Sarah and I would always go to her to get our hair cut and colored and she was always full of beauty tips and advice!!!... Especially when it came to the boys :) haha. It was the same thing when I got older, if I ever had a question or needed advice Donna would always have the answer. I remember I called her on Thanksgiving Day one year and I needed help making a pie and Donna was on the phone walking it through with me every step of the way. I loved her sincerity when it came to things like that. It just came natural to her. 

I remember when my sisters and I were little we were her flower girls at her wedding. Jim and Donnas wedding song was “I don't know much” by Aaron Neville. Being kids we didn't really understand the whole concept of having a “wedding song,” so when they played it we were under the impression that Donna and Jim were the singers!!! I will never forget how impressed I was lol it wasn't until we got older when we were SHOCKED to find out that Donna and Jim were in fact NOT the music artists we thought they were haha! But, nevertheless, I wouldn't have put it passed her :)

Every single year I would get a card for the holidays and for my birthday from the Scherer's. Over the last 6 or 7 years I have moved a lot and no matter where I was I would ALWAYS get my card! She was always so good at keeping up with the family and making sure we all kept in touch. That meant so much to me. I looked forward to her cute and always witty cards every year! 

Her LAUGH!!!!!! When I look back and whenever I want to picture my Aunt Donna she is always laughing!! I will never forget that laugh! She was always so happy and full of joy. She could walk into any room and brighten it up. 

Family was the most important thing to her. She stood up for what she believed and wasn't afraid to hold back when she knew something wasn't right. She was the only one bold enough to say something when no one else would. I look up to her for many things but especially when it came to that. It takes a lot of courage to do what she did and to stand up for someone and I just wanted her to know how much that meant to me and my family. 

My Aunt Donna LOVED to socialize!! She was the outgoing one always talking and telling stories. And there were two things in particular that whenever she talked about she would always light up!! That was when she talked about her boys and her puppies :) I loved her stories and I know she is very proud of her two boys, Andrew and Danny! 

I always loved watching her and Jim. For as long as they have been married they still joked around, made each other laugh, and were always teasing each other. They were very happy together. 

I remember when I was in High School I volunteered with Donna at her school helping out in her classroom. While I was there I got to see Donna interacting with her students. I remember how much her students loved her and how happy she seemed. I know those kids meant the world to her and I could see how much she loved being there. 

Those are just a few of the many memories I have of my Aunt Donna that I will cherish forever. She was an amazing, smart, beautiful, strong, and kind hearted person who will be missed very much by everyone! She has been an inspiration to me and has touched so many lives! I love you so much Aunt Donna!

Thank you Donna for being the light, love and glue for this extended family for all the occasions.  You were always positive, calm and helpful even during tough times.  Your politically correctness was the most sincere of anyone I know.  Thank you for all your funny and complimenting birthday cards every year.  You got an award for being the top Teacher Asst. of the whole state and for the neediest of kids.  That cannot be matched.    The other side must have needed an angel so they grabbed you quickly.  Thank you for giving to us in the meanwhile.  I feel lucky to have been near you.  I will now miss you as well as your mom at family gatherings.  We will send your boys love when we see them.  Just like you would do.

Donna I am missing your conversations and wisdom we shared often. I trusted your oppinion, and advice. I will miss the funny birthday cards, homemade cookies at Christmas time, planning of the food for get togethers at dads, knowing the girls had you to go to for cooking tips, relationship troubles. I'll miss planning and celebrating your 25th wedding anniversary ( my maid of honor duties), I will treasure my last evening with you when you presented me with my birthday gift of my little sister book, and daily calendar that you said you got while you were shopping at a garage sale on my birthday and said " It was ment to be for me". I thank you for being strong and courageous in sticking up for Sarah when the rest of us seem to turn the other cheek ( I will be working on this!). How you were pretty chatty and social and especially with a couple beers, your giggle  and smile that was always there. I have regrets that I didn't ask you more about your pain in your chest or if or what the doctor said and what test he ran etc. I regret not standing up at your service and telling the people about you and how you were a cosmotologist and worked at jcpenny, how you were an avid reader-well read in all novels, and national enquire and stars you even new about the movie star gossip. That you collected angels, snow globes, old family pictures all over on your shelves in your house and you still display your wedding pictures on wall of your living room ( when you walked in your house you knew the things that were important to you). The rose plants all around your yard, and how you started a garden this year, and how you won a jade plant from a silent auction that you battled with another lady bidding on this plant and how you tricked her by not letting her see you put in the last bid to one her up. I needed to let people know how you got the para award a couple years ago and was honored, and in the paper.That you were a lefty, had a cat princess ( loved animals), drove a red sports car, you always put your drink in one of those coozie ( everybody has one, but they don't really use it) I love you Donna and I will be here for your boys and try to give them the motherly touch and be proud of them and express to everyone just like you did. Donna I will never forget the first time that we met when Sarah brought me to see some of her family at the Rockies game. The moment I sat down you immediately made me feel like I was welcomed and the questions didn't stop :) We talked about teaching and you were so insightful with the knowledge that you possessed. Ever since then you always were the first person to say hello and always made it a point to give a hug when you said goodbye. Your smile radiated the room and your laughter was contagious. I only have great memories of you and know that you lived everyday with no regrets. Your an inspiration to us all and you will be remembered forever.

Aunt Donna. Your guidance and support throughout the years has been more meaningful than you will ever know. I will always remember and cherish your laugh and your excitement for the little things! I always looked forward to your quotes, sayings, and words of wisdom. Nobody gave advice quite like you did! I have always admired your passion for your family and for standing up for what you believed in, even when that wasn't easy. I will miss getting your cards in the mail every holiday, I could always count on a good laugh from the cards you'd send. I appreciate everything you have done for me, and I am so thankful for the long talks and love over the years. You were an amazing aunt, sister, mom, wife, friend, teacher, and role model to so many. I have always looked up to you, and hope to be like you in my future. I love you more than words can express.

Donna you have been such an inspiration to many. But to me you were even more you were my aunt! I love you and miss you sooooo much! You were smart,caring,compassionate,non judgemental and someone that you could tell anything to. You have raised to wonderful boys and have a lot to be proud of. We will always remember your smiling face,your purple toenails, your words of wisdom and your spunkiness! Donna was an amazing person and always giving to others. At Ellis she always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. She touched many children's lives in the school. Jim, Andrew and Daniel, may the memories of your loving mother/wife sustain you and provide you some comfort and love at this difficult time.

5/29-Paul had mentioned today about the neighborhood kids growing up.  I remember those days, Donna and I passing notes across the back fence talking about Dave & Doug Menzies, getting up early and going "jogging" down to the store or sometimes walking down to the store in just our fuzzy socks.  A song came on the radio "get right back where we started from" and it reminded me of when we would make up dances to the old 45 records in our back yard.  I have a picture of Donna & I hanging by our knees from the clothes line pole in our "orange crush" T-shirts.   I have so many good memories.  It had been a while since I saw her personally, but we have always stayed in contact through the years by Christmas cards and more recently on face book.  My heart goes out to her family.  It doesn't seem fair...she was so young........Love You Donna...Annette Wheeler

Donna and I worked together for two years getting the kids off the bus in the morning. I just can't believe that she is gone. She was someone that I could really talk to and I am going to miss her dearly.

We are so sad to her of this tough loss. I knew Donna as long as I can remember. We grew up across the street from each other (her Dad & my parents still live in the same houses). Her brother Paul & I hung out together and Donna would tag along. She was like a little sister I never had. She was very caring, loving and an amazing person. We will miss Donna. We are so very sorry for you loss. (the Marx family)

When I remember Donna I think of that cute smile that would instantly light up a room and make you happy.  She was sweet and genuine and I will miss her and remember her always!

my son Michael couldnt have put it any better...."she was sooooo chill!!!"...Donna was an amazing person....from the kind of mother she was, to a friend with an ear, for listening....to watching her w/ her students....to watching her LOVE her family....we have known her, since Andrew and Michael started at Ellis together...thru when our boys graduated from TJ....she surely will be missed and forever LOVED:)

My favorite memories of Donna are from our shared adolescent years. Our brothers Paul and Shawn, and other friends shared some great years, fumbling through teen angst.  From toilet papering the DiGiacomo's front yard to Career Day with Donna's mom at Craig Rehab...I was so lucky to have a friend that was so kind and gentle at a time in life where kids aren't always like that.  Donna was born kind.  And she never changed I am certain.  The planet is at a loss.

Donna worked with my developmentally disabled daughter when she was in elementary school.  What I always think of was she was the only person my daughter would allow to cut her hair.  She was a gentle, giving and positive person with infinite patience and a beautiful soul.  She will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Scherer was so kind and caring to me at Ellis.  I go by her house everyday and would always look for her red car!  I know she meant so much to Jim, Andrew and Danny!  I will always remember her as a kind teacher who would always be smiling!  She will always be close to my heart!

Donna brought a calm, sweet , sunny glow wherever she went.  Her patience and kindness with her students will always be remembered. She'll be missed by many.
