Dorothy Inez Burkert was born on December 25, 1921 in Hale County, Texas. She passed away from this life peacefully at her home in Aurora on September 15, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Albert John Burkert (Al).

After graduating from high school, she attended business college.
Her first job was with the Farm Security Administration in Amarillo, Texas. Later she transferred to Dallas and worked for the Farm Security Administration for 3 ½ years. Upon leaving government service, she worked for a food broker for 2 years.
Dorothy met Albert Burkert at the Baker Hotel in downtown Dallas while he was in aircraft school and she was doing volunteer work for the USO.
They married in Dallas on June 11, 1946 after Al got home from World War II. She moved to Denver, CO. and went to work for the Colorado Bar Association.
Two years later, she resigned her job to stay home and raise a family. She went back to work 14 years later for the Regional Administrator of National Banks of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. She retired January 31, 1984.
She was a longstanding member of the East Alameda Church of Christ.
