Sergeant Jackson served his country with honor in Korea as an Infantryman in the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was captured on December 12, 1950 and died at Camp One on the Yalu River on February 3, 1951.
His remains were not identified until December 2013. Upon positive confirmation of the identity of his remains, his niece, Joanna Mueller of Bailey, asked that he be brought home to be buried next to his family at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery in Centennial.
Sergeant Jackson was posthumously awarded the Prisoner of War Medal, his Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Purple Heart.
The public is invited to participate in his graveside funeral with Full US Army Honors on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00AM at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd. in Centennial.
