Frances Lucille Burbank, age 89, of Centennial, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Frances was born March 25, 1929. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bruce Warner Burbank; parents, Clara Marie (Puls) and Theodore Albert White; and her brother, Ted White; and sister, Ann White. Frances is survived by her son, Brian (Teresa) Burbank of Arvada, CO; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Frederick of Laporte, CO; grandchildren, Jason Burbank of Arvada, CO, Rachel Frederick of Lakewood, CO and Andrew Frederick of Fort Collins, CO; and other loving family and friends.
Frances graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and Master’s degree in vocational education. She was a Home Economics and Vocational Education teacher with the Denver Public School system for more than 30 years. Frances taught at Lake Junior High and at George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Montebello and Manual High Schools. She was devoted to her students, putting in long hours on weekends and after school to prepare for her classes. She was active in the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, which promotes the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. She counted the members of the DKG Alpha chapter as dear friends. Following her retirement from teaching, Frances and Bruce travelled extensively throughout the world, including Europe, New Zealand and Scandinavia.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, May 18, 2018 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Reception in the Pavilion.
